DLR SportAbility Forum is proud to launch the DLR SportAbility Forum Logo, a new visual identity representing the DLR SportAbility Forum and its ongoing commitment to inclusion in sport and physical activity across Dún Laoghaire Rathdown.
The DLR SportAbility Forum was set up by DLR Sports Partnership in 2024 and meet 4 times per year. It brings together stakeholders from across the disability sport sector in the county, including sports clubs, disability services, coaches, volunteers, and community organisations. The Forum provides a space to network, collaborate, share best practice and create new disability sport initiatives to help guide the strategic development of disability sport and physical activity in Dún Laoghaire Rathdown.
To date, the Forum has delivered a number of key initiatives. The first is an online calendar on the DLR Sports Partnership website, listing disability sport programmes and events available across the county. The second initiative is the introduction of sensory bags, which can be kept pitch-side to support children and adults in self-regulating during activity sessions without needing to leave the session. The Forum also originated the concept of Parastanding Tennis which is for players with a physical disability and worked with Tennis Ireland on its launch in the County. It now has three groups engaged in the sport.
The newly launched logo symbolises this collaborative approach and will be displayed on the DLR Sports Partnership website. Its presence signifies DLR Sports Partnership’s commitment to planning and delivering programmes, events, and initiatives that strive to be inclusive and welcoming of people of all abilities.
DLR Sports Partnership recognises that while not every programme or event can always be fully accessible to everyone, we are committed to doing our best to be as inclusive as possible. Inclusion is an ongoing journey, and the DLR SportAbility Forum plays a key role in helping guide, challenge, and inform our work so that barriers to participation are reduced wherever possible.
The DLR SportAbility Forum Logo also acts as a visible statement of support for inclusion, highlighting opportunities for engagement and encouraging open communication with participants, families, and service providers around access needs and reasonable accommodations.
Speaking about the launch, Chairperson of the DLR SportAbility Forum, Liam O Donohue said: “The DLR SportAbility Forum Logo represents our shared commitment to working together to support disability sport in the county. While we acknowledge that accessibility can be complex, this logo reflects our intention to listen, learn, and continually improve how we plan and deliver inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities.”
The launch of the logo reinforces DLR Sports Partnership’s belief that sport and physical activity should be as accessible as possible and that collaboration with disability sport stakeholders is essential in achieving meaningful inclusion.
