WOMEN IN SPORT

Dlr Sports Partnership offers a diverse range of programmes for women and girls across the year. Some are seasonal initiatives, while others operate year‑round. Here’s an example of what’s available.

WOMEN IN SPORT WEEK

Women in Sport Week is Sport Ireland’s national annual campaign celebrating and championing women and girls at every level of sport and physical activity. From players and coaches to volunteers, officials, leaders, and supporters. First launched in March 2021, it has grown each year into a nationwide celebration designed to boost visibility, participation, and recognition of women in sport
Women in Sport Week typically runs in early March, aligning with International Women’s Day on March 8th.

HER OUTDOORS WEEK

HER Outdoors Week is Sport Ireland’s national celebration encouraging women and girls of all ages to get outside and try something new. Some programmes we run during HER Outdoors Week: Hiking, Yoga,  Zumba, Paddleboarding, Kayaking, Sailing and much more.
HER Outdoors Week typically runs in early August.

HER MOVES

Her Moves is a national Sport Ireland initiative designed to inspire, empower, and support teenage girls to be active, especially those who are inactive or at risk of dropping out of sport. The programme focuses on helping girls find fun, social, and meaningful ways to move that build confidence and fit their lives.
We deliver Her Moves Programmes primarily through schools.

UPSKILL & GRANTS FOR CLUBS, COACHES & VOLUNTEERS

Upskilling
We run a number of workshops to help upskill those involved in Women’s Sport in dlr.

·         Coaching Teenage Girls
·         Coaching Children
·         Women in Sport Leadership
 
Grants
Club Participation Grants Scheme aims to support sports clubs, coaches and volunteers to develop greater participation among target groups as reflected in the DLR Sports & Physical Activity Plan 2025-2029. 
1.      Grant for Women in Sport Participation Initiatives & Programmes: 
These projects should focus on attracting new female members/participants and encourage their ongoing participation. Projects must demonstrate potential long-term sustainability and how they relate to the provision of sport or physical activity opportunities among girls and women.
Grant applications usually open in September
