Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Forum

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership works to promote participation, inclusion and coordination in sport at a local level. A key part of this work is the establishment of a Sports Forum to represent all of the various sports clubs in the area.

Every sports club based in the county can nominate up to three individuals to represent it at the meetings of the Sports Forum where members tackle issues of mutual interest, discover methods of overcoming them and identifying coach/volunteer training needs. This group will allow for better communication between clubs and act as a coordinated voice for local level sports clubs in the area. Meetings are held three times a year in various locations around the County.

Some benefits of the Sports Forum

  • Act as information conduits between the Sports Partnership and local clubs
  • Guide the identification and delivery of training needs of local sports clubs
  • Act as “champions” in their clubs with regard to best practice in child protection, volunteer recruitment, club development, etc.
  • Inform the Sports Partnership, Board and other clubs on the issues that are arising and identifying methods of tackling them (best practice)

A nomination form must be completed by the club committee in order attend. For further details please contact the Sports Partnership office by calling 01-2719502 or e-mailing sportspartnership@dlrcoco.ie.
