Have you heard of BoxUp?
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown have officially launched BoxUp with two units, one in Kilbogget Park (main entrance by Sea Point Rugby Club) and one Marlay Park (beside
Putting Green and Boules Court). Both stations have already proven popular with people of all ages, getting well used since their installation over 3 months ago.
“BoxUp” is an outdoor locker system that allows the public to access and use sports and leisure equipment for up to three hours, through a dedicated app and best of all…its free!
To access the equipment, users can download the BoxUp app and register their account. All that is required is a form of identification.
Click the link below for more details.
Each station has 6 lockers with a variety of equipment to suit various needs and abilities, such as Boules, Spikeball, Exercise equipment and more.
It’s easy to get started, just open the app, select the location by zooming in on the map to Ireland and the area you are in and then select the station.
You then choose which locker you want to open, follow the prompts to open the door, remove the equipment and close the door afterwards.
Once you are finished with the equipment you reopen the box using the app as your SmartKey. Replace the equipment and close the door and you will asked to take a photo of the equipment inside the locker and once that is confirmed, your session is over.
Remember if you have any issues, questions or suggestions regarding BoxUp you can leave feedback on the app or of course contact us at sportspartnership@dlrcoco.ie.

We have a total of 6 courts and which are free to use by members of the public, allowing people of all ages and abilities to enjoy a game of Boules with family and friends. Many of our local Boules Clubs use our courts for practice and competitions. Check out the Boules Courts available in our parks:
Overview
Map My Park involves highlighting and promoting the use of 5 of our public parks by upgrading and installing information boards, route signage and distance markers. The intention is to provide members of the local communities with visible, clear and up-front information on their local park. This will include information on the size of the park and route lengths, incline, location of benches, surface type, toilets and matters of interest etc. There would also be distance markers located around the park to help people identify how far they have gone and provide a sense of achievement in how far they have travelled.
Parks upgraded through the project, click on each one below to view map:
Active Cities has been a part of the DLR Sport Partnership for approximately 3 years. The purpose behind this fantastic initiative is to tie in with everything that the Sports Partnership already delivers and works towards, in terms of providing initiatives and programmes for members of the community.
In addition, it has specific focuses within the four Active Cities Key Pillars, such as
Active Environments. Active Environments relates to the environments in which we are active e.g.
parks, green spaces, urban spaces.
A main aim of this pillar is to have more involvement in consultation process to help strengthen policy and design guidelines so new and existing infrastructure and spaces are “physical activity friendly”.
Active Cities Dublin is working hard to improve access to these facilities and spaces for all individuals across DLR.
A fantastic example of this has been the development of a new Teen Space, located at dlr Leisure Centre Meadowbrook.
Thank you for registering for Active Cities Dublin #BeActive Night Family Adventure Festival.
