SUMMARY:Inclusive Learn to Cycle Programme
DESCRIPTION:The Cycle Safety School have been delivering Cycle Training to a range of disability groups with great success for years and we are delighted to work in partnership with them to run this 6 week programme again in September 2025. \nThis programme is suitable for children between the ages of 6 years – 18 years old who are able to sit on a bike independently. \nWhile every child will have their own learning curve\, with active parental support during classes\, and frequent home practice between sessions\, progress towards independent cycling can be evident from week to week. \nIt is preferable that your child bring their own bike but there are a small number of bikes available from the Cycle Safety School to borrow. If your child does not have a bike\, the instructor can advise you at the first session on bike size\, type\, etc. Having a bike best suited to the individual is hugely beneficial in succeeding to cycle. \nThere are 15 places available on this 6 week outdoor programme. \nVenue: Monkstown Educate Together Primary School\, Kill Avenue\, Dun Laoghaire\, Co Dublin. \nDates and Time: Please choose one of the following options. Thursday 3.30pm – 4.30pm or 4:30pm – 5:30pm from 11th September – 16th October. \nCost: €20/child for the six week course \nThis course will be run in collaboration with The Cycle Safety School\, www.cyclingsafetyschool.com and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership\, http://www.dlrsportspartnership.ie/ \nFor more information contact Gwen O’Looney\, Sports Inclusion Disability Officer on 01271 9502 or golooney@dlrcoco.ie \nPlease note due to the ticket platform there will be a small charge for cancelled tickets\, this is beyond our control. We apologise for any inconvienience caused.

SUMMARY:Safeguarding 2 Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Safeguarding 2 – Club Children’s Officer (C.C.O) ONLINE COURSE This course is intended for those who are taking on the role of Club Childrens Officer. If you are a Coach or volunteer you need to complete safeguarding 1. \nA person appointed to the Club Children’s Officer position in a club must have completed safeguarding 1 (Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness workshop) and should complete the NEW Club Children’s Officer 3 hour workshop. This course will help the Club Children’s Officer to carry out the function of their role in the club and support the implementation of best practice in the club. Participants will also receive a Club Children’s Officer Action Planning document as part of the training. \nThe Sport Ireland Code has been adopted and implemented by governing bodies of sports\, clubs\, local sports partnerships and community/voluntary groups on an ongoing basis since 2000. It has been encouraging to see the common sense approach to the adoption of the code at grass roots level\, which has resulted in protection for young people and leaders. \nIf young people are to stay involved in sport throughout their adult life\, they need to be equipped with the fundamentals to remain involved with sport and physical activity. Equally we need to ensure that their early experiences are positive and enjoyable\, irrespective of their ability\, gender\, social class\, race\, etc. \nIt is encouraging to see adults\, both volunteers and professionals\, contribute to these positive experiences by acting as role models in all dealings with young people. In particular the work of Children’s Officers at club and national level is instrumental in implementing the Code. We need to build on this valuable work to ensure that all young people see sport and physical activity as an important and valuable aspect of their lives that they will sustain throughout their adulthood. \nVENUE INFORMATION \nThis is an online course and the zoom link along with course material will be emailed to participants a few days before the course is to take place. These details can not be shared with others and names not on the registration list will not be admitted to the zoom meeting. \nGDPR \nBy registering for this workshop your name\, email and D.O.B will be shared with Sport Ireland. This information is required to produce your certificate of completion.
