DESCRIPTION:As part of our Men in Motion series Dlr Sports Partnership are delighted to partner up with the Irish National Sailing and Powerboat School for an introduction to Paddleboarding session for men. \nWe are offering an exciting water-based activity session focused primarily on stand-up paddleboarding (SUP)\, with participants also having the opportunity to try kayaking. \nThis session will take place at the Irish National Sailing and Powerboat School\, West Pier Dun Laoghaire on Wednesday th 22nd of July from 6:00pm – 8.000pm. \nWhen: Wednesday 22nd of July 2026 \nWhere: Irish National Sailing & Powerboat school (INSS) West Pier Dun Laoghaire \nTime: 6:30pm \nCost: €5:00 \nWhat to Bring\n\nShorts or swimwear suitable for water activities\nA towel\nRunners/trainers or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet\nA change of clothes for afterwards (optional but recommended)\n\nWhat Will Be Provided\nThe instructors will supply: \n\nWetsuits\nBuoyancy aids\nStand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs)\nKayaks\nAccess to shower facilities\n\nAdditional Information\n\nThe session will focus primarily on Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)\, with kayaking also available.\nWearing a wetsuit is recommended\, but if you prefer not to wear one\, that is absolutely fine. DESCRIPTION:Safeguarding 1 Online – Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course \nAll Coaches\, Children’s Officers and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP) must first complete the 3 hour Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course. This is an on line workshop which educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of children involved in sport. \nThe Sport Ireland Code has been adopted and implemented by governing bodies of sports\, clubs\, local sports partnerships and community/voluntary groups on an ongoing basis since 2000. It has been encouraging to see the common sense approach to the adoption of the code at grass roots level\, which has resulted in protection for young people and leaders. \nIf young people are to stay involved in sport throughout their adult life\, they need to be equipped with the fundamentals to remain involved with sport and physical activity. Equally we need to ensure that their early experiences are positive and enjoyable\, irrespective of their ability\, gender\, social class\, race\, etc. \nIt is encouraging to see adults\, both volunteers and professionals\, contribute to these positive experiences by acting as role models in all dealings with young people. In particular the work of Children’s Officers at club and national level is instrumental in implementing the Code. We need to build on this valuable work to ensure that all young people see sport and physical activity as an important and valuable aspect of their lives that they will sustain throughout their adulthood. \nON LINE INFORMATION \nThis on line course will take place using Zoom video and audio conferencing service. DESCRIPTION:Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership are  delighted to announce that we are running a Multisport Easter Camp for neurodiverse teens and young adults between the ages of 14 – 20 years old. \nThe camp will run over two days\, the 30th & 31st March and there is a choice of either a morning camp or afternoon camp. It will take place in Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua\, Ballyogan Road\, Ballyogan D18 K0EN. Activities will be similar to last year -frisbee\, tennis\, basketball\, indoor hockey\, archery\, rugby. SUMMARY:Safeguarding 1 Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Safeguarding 1 Online – Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course \nAll Coaches\, Children’s Officers and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP) must first complete the 3 hour Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course. This is an on line workshop which educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of children involved in sport. \nThe Sport Ireland Code has been adopted and implemented by governing bodies of sports\, clubs\, local sports partnerships and community/voluntary groups on an ongoing basis since 2000. It has been encouraging to see the common sense approach to the adoption of the code at grass roots level\, which has resulted in protection for young people and leaders. \nIf young people are to stay involved in sport throughout their adult life\, they need to be equipped with the fundamentals to remain involved with sport and physical activity. Equally we need to ensure that their early experiences are positive and enjoyable\, irrespective of their ability\, gender\, social class\, race\, etc. \nIt is encouraging to see adults\, both volunteers and professionals\, contribute to these positive experiences by acting as role models in all dealings with young people. In particular the work of Children’s Officers at club and national level is instrumental in implementing the Code. We need to build on this valuable work to ensure that all young people see sport and physical activity as an important and valuable aspect of their lives that they will sustain throughout their adulthood. \nON LINE INFORMATION \nThis on line course will take place using Zoom video and audio conferencing service. Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership will send you the link to the zoom meeting a few days prior to the course date for security reasons along with all the course material. SUMMARY:Safeguarding 3 Online Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Safeguarding 3 – Designated Liaison Person(DLP) \nA person appointed to the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) position in a club must have completed the Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course (Safeguarding 1 Workshop) and should complete the NEW Designated Liaison Person 3 hour workshop. A club may appoint the same person to both the CCO and DLP positions however best practice advises that they are kept as separate roles. \nThe third part of the ISC Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop. \nEvery club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TULSA Child and Family Agency or Social Services (NI) and/or An Garda Siochán / PSNI. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However\, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role\, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role. The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role. \nThe Sport Ireland Code has been adopted and implemented by governing bodies of sports\, clubs\, local sports partnerships and community/voluntary groups on an ongoing basis since 2000. SUMMARY:Sports First Aid Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership is running a Sports First Aid Course to assist Sports Clubs in the county to provide a safe environment for those participating in sport. This full day course takes place from 9.00am – 16.00pm in The Royal Marine Hotel\, Marine Road\, Dun Laoghaire\, Co Dublin on Saturday 10th May 2025. \nOn completion of this course\, participants will be certified in emergency response training and be able to provide necessary first aid while awaiting the arrival of the emergency services. First Aid is an essential skill to have particularly when you are dealing with physical or sporting activities. The course will cover the following areas in Sports First Aid: \n\nAccident scene management\nPatient assessment\nRespiratory emergencies\nWounds and bleeding\nHead injuries and unconsciousness\nFractures and injury to bones\nBurns\, scalds and electric shock\n\nVENUE INFORMATION \nThis course takes place in The Royal Marine Hotel\, Marine Road\, Dun Laoghaire\, Co Dublin from 9am – 4pm. Please arrive at 8.50am. Tea\, coffee and biscuits will be provided for the mid morning break but participants will be expected to bring their own packed lunch or can avail of the hotels onsite dining facilities/ local eateries available around Dun Laoghaire.
