Genesis Club was founded in 1976 when a group of twelve players decided to form a new club. After long nights of deliberation the group settled on the name Genesis, only after ‘Red Socks’ had been rejected by the Leinster Branch. They had the audacity to apply in the club’s first year to enter two teams in the Leinster league, one in division 1 and one in division 2. The club has since grown from two teams to six senior teams and a large youth section.

The club has been operating from different venues in the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown area without a fixed home until three years ago when the club found a permanent base at St Raphaela’s Secondary School. This has given the club the opportunity to reciprocate, in its anniversary year, the hospitality it had received over the years from other hockey clubs in Ireland and abroad.

This tournament could not have been possible without the support from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, in particular from DLR Local Sports Partnership and St Raphaela’s Secondary School. The fantastic Genesis volunteers will make sure that the tournament will be enjoyed by all.
