The European Week of Sport aims to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The Week is for everyone, regardless of age, background or fitness level. With a focus on grassroots initiatives, it will inspire Europeans to #BeActive on a regular basis and create opportunities in peoples’ everyday lives to exercise more.

#BeActive is a call to action to get Europeans moving!

Last year, Ireland's European Week of Sport was a great success in Ireland with over 300 events organised throughout the country. Sport Ireland, as a National Coordinating Body for the European Week of Sport, would like to develop and grow the European Week of Sport into a National week of sport and physical activity for all.

The European Week of Sport will take place in Ireland between the 10th and 18th of September 2016. Sport Ireland has invited Dun Laoighaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership to become involved again this year by encouraging clubs, schools and sporting organisaitons to become involved with the Week of Sport, registering and promoting events and perhaps organising a participation focused event during the week.

Sport Ireland fully supports "Ireland 2016" and believes that the European Week of Sport offers a significant opportunitiy to showcase and celebrate our sporting history and heritage.
