The next of the UCD Seminar Series will be held this Wednesday, the 6th of April at 6.30pm in the Astra Hall in UCD. This free seminar will be hosted by Dr. James Mathews from the School of Public Health & Population Science and John Paul O’Brien.

James seminar will be on Sports Psychology. This talk will provide coaches and club officials with an introduction to the role of psychology in optimising sport performance and how an environment can be created to facilitate long term sport participation and enjoyment. This talk will include practical tips to enhance athlete motivation and confidence.

John Paul O'Brien is a Sport Scientist and practising counselor and psychotherapist. His talk will on "Balancing Sport and Studies". John Paul will share his personal experiences of being in and out of balance as a student and athlete. By sharing some key learnings, he will encourage participants to begin to reflect upon and draw learning from their own personal experiences. John Paul will also explore balance on a personality level using practical exercises - if our inner life is balanced, our outer life is more likely to be balanced too.
